Überblick : Eine letzte Mission noch. In einem Ort kurz vor den Stadtgrenzen von Bagdad ersehnt eine Gruppe von Soldaten der National Guard ihre Heimreise in die USA. Doch genau die letzte Mission gerät zum Höllenkommando: Die Einheit gerät in einen Hinterhalt: Mehrere Soldaten werden getötet, andere schwer verletzt. Jamal Aiken muss in Notwehr eine irakische Frau töten, sein Kumpel Tommy Yates erlebt mit, wie sein bester Freund heimtückisch erschossen wird. Pte. Vanessa Price verliert ihre Hand, der Arzt Will Marsh wird zutiefst traumatisiert von den bestialischen Bildern, die sich ihm bieten.
